In the narrow streets of Porto, between colorful houses and steep stairways, there was a small square with an old olive tree. The locals said it was older than the bridges over the Douro River and that its gnarled branches had seen generations of dockworkers. Every morning, an old man would sit under the tree and watch the river cast golden streaks of light onto the boats. ‘Like the olives,’ he would murmur, ‘this city carries both bitterness and sweetness – patience, work and love in every corner.’ Children played around the tree, collecting fallen fruit, while tourists admired the old town. And the olive tree stood still, witness to time, life and the stories that Porto writes day after day. In the evening, when the sun disappears behind the hills, the Douro glistened and the old tree whispered softly:

"Patience, my friends. Everything that ripens bears fruit – just like you, just like Porto."
